Awarded with the esteemed Padma Shri- The Fourth Highest Civilian Award in 2002, Ms Kiran Segal is a renowned Odissi dancer who has become synonymous with the art form itself. She has been deeply involved with the arts her entire life, and studied Bharatanatyam and Kathak before training in Odissi under the legendary Guru Mayadhar Raut. Some of her notable choreographic works are 'Panchakshara Stotram' (prayers to Lord Shiva), 'Dashaavataar', 'Whispering Moods' and her multi-media presentation of the Ramayana.

Apart from being a spellbinding performer known for her abhinaya, she is a dedicated teacher par excellence, and established her Odissi dance school 'Pallavi - Odissi Nritya Sangeet Vidyalaya'. Most recently, Samar has been a judge on Nat Geo Cover Shot, an ongoing award-winning reality TV show, mentoring professional photographers.
